Galls & The Secrets of the Universe takes on an absurd mythos theory of the humble oak gall, seemingly overlooked yet a vitally significant component to the survival of the gall wasp. These parasitic growths house and incubate the gall wasp eggs into maturity, but what really are these insect nuts with holes telling us? Could there be a higher purpose to these little planets? Connect the dots, make constellations, draw a map, where do wasps actually come from? In our corner of the world the Oaks are told in Chumash mythology to be as old as time itself, and these gall wasps rely on the tree for their existence…

So, what if these galls were older than time?

The works presented span time itself, homages to past and present sources from alchemy to anime, astrology to WikiHow. using a collection of analog mediums ranging from painting, wood carving, pastels and pencils, readymade galls, and handmade iron gall ink extracted from some volunteers (by yours truly).
